Baby Basics - Language and Speech Development

Have you ever wondered how children develop and language and speech? As parents, we look forward to those first words and if you are like me, keep saying mama over and over again to make sure that is the first word.

Have a conversation with your baby. Your baby makes a sound and then you respond back.

Describe your child’s environment. I like doing this in the car. See the car, see the bus, there’s a tree…. Or if you are playing with the red ball, call it a red ball. Simple, is best.

Describe what you are doing. Repeat what your child says.

Read, read and read. What a great way to spend some time together. When you get tired of you child’s favourite book, keep on reading it.
