The children's area has some amazing features to encourage free play. Guelph's history is woven through all aspects of the displays.
The house is based on the story of Imelda who moved to Guelph from Italy.
There's information on the Guelph rivers and also the mammoths and mastodons who were here 10000 years ago. There is a sandbox where the kids can even dig for fossils.
A large aerial view of Guelph covers one entire wall and a massive globe hangs from the ceiling.
Add to that a train table and puppet show and you have fun for everyone. You can see them here as you look down from the play structure.
As part of this monthly program the museum has a monthly theme. It usually matches some of the exhibits in the other parts of the museum. This month the theme was flight to match with their display of the Avro arrow. They have three different craft stations set up that you can visit and create your own pilots badge, a clothespin airplane or make your own paper Avro arrow.
At 11 they invite the kids to come for a circle time where they read some books and sing some songs to match the theme of the morning.
