“The Lunch Lady” has been putting smiles on the faces of
elementary school children and their parents by serving lunch, since 1993, when
Canadian mom Ruthie Burd opened her first kitchen in Toronto. Six years later the demand had become too
much for one kitchen to handle, so Burd decided to share her successful venture
through franchising. The first franchise
opened in 2001 and now there are more than 45 “Lunch Lady” (or “Lunch Guy”)
franchise-partners serving school districts across Canada.
Menus are carefully designed to offer a selection of
affordable, hot, tasty, nutritious meals that comply with provincial guidelines
for healthy food served at school, and all meals are prepared and packed
individually in a nut-free, licensed, commercial kitchen. Many schools participate in a fundraising
program that generates extra income for school activities or for providing
Angel Lunches to children.
The program has been so successful at schools that “The
Lunch Lady” is now branching out to feed children at daycares, summer camps as
well as provide lunches to senior centres and local companies.
The Lunch Lady kitchen in Guelph requires a dedicated
franchise partner. Serving 18 schools in
the Guelph area and currently run by the corporate office in Toronto, the
business is in need of a local Lunch Lady to serve the school community.
Lunch Ladies are
passionate, energetic, business minded, team players who value a work-life
balance. For more information please
