Art and Play: O is for Ornament

momstown's monthly Art and Play event is based on the theme for each month. December's theme is O is for Ornament, so we decided to make some Christmas stained glass ornaments.

 

You start out with some simple patterns, and tape them to a table. Cover the picture with plastic wrap, taping that down as well.

 

The children colour the picture, onto the plastic wrap. Permanent markers work best, and save the black outlines for last.

Next, take a piece of aluminum foil and crinkle it up. Then carefully unfold it and use it to cover the back of a small paper plate.

Then lift the plastic wrap off of the table, and put it against the foil wrapped plate, being sure to turn it unside down first (so the coloured part is against the foil). Tape the paper together on the back of the plate and you're done!

We ended the event by singing some favourite Christmas songs. Join us next month for Art and Play!
