Magic Milk! Little Scientists

The moms at momstown Guelph and their little scientists met at Riverside Park to try a fun experiment.

It was a beautiful sunny day so we found a nice picnic table in the shade and set up our lab.

We started out by pouring some milk into pie plates, and adding polka-dots of food colouring. It was hard to resist the temptation to splash around before we even started to experiment, and we did lose a few of the q-tips before we got rolling.

Our little scientists took turns dipping q-tips with dish soap on them into the coloured dots. The colours scatter and create a beautiful kaleidoscope pattern. There were lots of ‘ooh’s’ and ‘ahh’s’.

It was so much fun that we had to dump out the plates and do it all over again!

Thanks to Huggies wipeswe were able to quickly clean up and start over before going to play on the swings and slides at the park.
